SOL is committed to quality education to lakhs of its students using advanced learning technologies and ICT capabilities by reaching to the hither to un-reached. Due to the resource constraints and location, the students of SOL do not have access to the same kind of library services as available to the campus based learners. “Distance Learning Community is entitled to library services & resources equivalent to those provided for student & faculty in traditional-campus settings”. They are facilitated by technology-mediated right information, right time, 24x7, anywhere bridging the gap between information and information seeker.
For transforming from the existing traditional activities and services towards the ICT enabled web-based library, the “Digital Library for Open Learners (DLOL) is established. To evolve appropriate mechanism of providing information support to distance learners, many projects have been worked out and actions are initiated. The projects are undertaken for modernisation and re-vamping of library activities and services.
